Steward's Report
Mr. P. Derubeis trainer of Khawaja declared a new weight of 30.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Khawaja last raced 29.1kg.
Mr. T. Churchill trainer of Fantasy Blaze declared a new weight of 27.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Fantasy Blaze last raced 25.7kg.
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Moles the trainer of Lollipop regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Lollipop lasted raced on 22/06/17. Mr. Moles stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell.
Hurricane Patch, Hurricane Billie and Lollipop were slow to begin. Khawaja eased approaching the first turn checking Hurricane Billie and Fantasy Blaze. Little Mischa and Hardaway Hitman collided approaching the first checking Little Mischa. Hardaway Hitman and Lollipop collided approaching the home turn checking Lollipop. Khawaja eased approaching the home turn and again in the home straight. Khawaja marred Fernando's Jewel approaching the winning post checking Fernando's Jewel.
Khawaja was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Derubeis the trainer of the greyhound Khawaja regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the first turn, approaching the home turn and in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Khawaja with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Derubeis pleaded guilty to the charge, Khawaja was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months all tracks and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
