A pre race sample was taken from Roger Express.
Allen Sharpie was slow to begin.
Seabrook Eb and Noosa Parade collided approaching the first turn, checking Seabrook Eb. Backin' Bully checked off Mate Bale on the first turn and collided with Roger Express, severely checking Backin' Bully and Roger Express. Noosa Parade checked off Backin' Bully on the first turn and collided with Allen Sharpie. Roger Express checked off Backin' Bully approaching the second turn and collided with Seabrook Eb. Mate Bale and Lady Beatrix collided on the home turn and again in the home straight. Allen Sharpie and Lady Beatrix collided approaching the winning post.
Due to persistent rainfall, Stewards inspected the track following the event and deemed the surface safe to continue racing.
