Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Black Odessa.
Blazing Nitro was slow to begin.
Sleeping Slick crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Blazing Nitro. Addictive Riley crossed to the outside approaching the 200m mark, checking Harvey Leigh and Black Odessa. Blazing Nitro and Harvey Leigh collided approaching the 150m mark. Black Odessa eased at the 100m mark and tailed off.
Black Odessa was vetted following the event, and trainer Mr Martyn Empson declined the option of a revet. It was found that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr Martyn Empson, the trainer of the greyhound Black Odessa, regarding the greyhound's racing manners at the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Black Odessa with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Empson pleaded guilty to the charge, Black Odessa was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
