A pre-race sample was taken from Chucky Thump upon arrival on track, prior to kennelling.
Velocity Whisper was quick to begin. River Wild and Stevie Gee were slow to begin. In A Jam, Stevie Gee and Sneak Preview collided soon after the start. In A Jam and Sneak Preview collided approaching the first turn checking In A Jam. River Wild and Stevie Gee collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. River Wild and Stevie Gee collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. River Wild was checked off Stevie Gee entering the home straight. Velocity Whisper and Rahni collided in the home straight. Chucky Thump galloped on Velocity Whisper in the home straight checking Velocity Whisper, Rahni and Chucky Thump. Rahni and Sneak Preview collided several times approaching the winning post checking both greyhounds.Chucky Thump veered in and marred Velocity Whisper approaching the winning post.
Rahni was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Wright the trainer of the greyhound Chucky Thump regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Chucky Thump with marring. Mr. Wright pleaded not guilty to the charge, Chucky Thump was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Mrs. M. Clay was fined the sum of $50 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for the greyhound Rahni pursuant to GAR 33.
