Stewards spoke to G. Villinger, the trainer of Platinum Perri regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Platinum Perri last raced on 18 January 2017 and is returning after a spell.

Murrabit Sammy was a late scratching at 6:00pm after the Trainer, Mr. L. Mitchell presented the incorrect greyhound for this event. Stewards charged Mr. Mitchell pursuant to GAR 86(0) in that he did present the incorrect greyhound for racing, which in the opinion of the Stewards was negligent. Mr. Mitchell pleaded not guilty to the charge. Mr. Mitchell was found guilty and fined the sum of $150. In relation to penalty, Stewards took into consideration that Qualifying Trial Meetings are non stake earning, however are run under race conditions. Stewards advise that the penalty would have been higher if this offence took place at a stake race meeting. 

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Why Not Becky and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 6:00pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer G. Carter was fined the sum of $100.

Buckle Up Scotch was very slow to begin (3 lengths). Platinum Perri checked off Almani Blaze on the first turn. Platinum Perri checked off Buckle Up Scotch in the home straight.
