Miss Yaala was quick to begin. Gateway To Eden and Destini Brooklyn were slow to begin. Miss Yaala, Midnight Secret and South Of Eden collided soon after the start.Charli Tee crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Hector Bogart, Miss Yaala, Midnight Secret and South Of Eden. Gateway To Eden crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Hector Bogart and Miss Yaala. Midnight Secret and Perry Bale collided on the first turn, checking Perry Bale. South Of Eden checked off Midnight Secret on the second turn. Gateway To Eden checked off South Of Eden entering the back straight.

Destini Brooklyn, which trailed the field, was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both monkey muscles, both trapezius muscles and left pencil muscle, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mrs. A. Panetta, the handler of the greyhound Destini Brooklyn. Stewards deemed the performance of Destini Brooklyn unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Destini Brooklyn must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
