Stewards spoke to Mr. Joshua Formosa, the handler of the greyhound Alannah's Gift.  Stewards deemed the performance of Alannah's Gift unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Alannah's Gift must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr G. Nicoll, the trainer of Second Dan regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Second Dan last raced on 15 December 2016. Mr Nicoll stated that the greyhound was returning to racing from a left wrist injury.

Midwinter was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion to the left calf. No stand down period was imposed.

Sparkeen was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured hock. A stand down period of 90 days was imposed.

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Lunar Shadow and a post-race sample was subsequently taken.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Sunset Oasis trialled over the 450mt from box 1, weight 28.8kg, the greyhound was placed 1st  in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 23.92, the greyhound won by a margin of 2.5L. Sunset Oasis was Cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A)(Blinkers) - Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Caulfield, the trainer of Blue And Cool regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Blue And Cool last raced on 1st July 2016. Mr. Caulfield stated that the greyhound was returning from being on season and a spell. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Blue And Cool trialled over the 425mt from box 3, weight 24.7kg, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 23.92, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2.5L. Blue And Cool was Cleared to run in Blinkers.
