Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Selleck, the trainer of Squeaky Gate regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Squeaky Gate last raced on 6th November, 2015. Mr. Selleck stated that Squeaky Gate is returning to racing after suffering from a hock injury.
Barney Boloney and Bluehawk Burst were slow to begin. Squeaky Gate, Arvo's Kal, Admire Black, Lucky Andy, Barney Boloney, Magic Karma and Bluehawk Burst collided soon after the start checking Arvo's Kal, Barney Boloney and Bluehawk Burst. Admire Black, Lucky Andy, Barney Boloney and Bluehawk Burst collided approaching the first turn checking Admire Black, Barney Boloney and Bluehawk Burst and severely checking Lucky Andy. Select Tayli checked off Squeaky Gate on the first turn. Barney Boloney galloped on the heels of Bluehawk Burst approaching the home turn. Squeaky Gate and Magic Karma collided entering the home straight and several times in the home straight checking both greyhounds. Select Tayli and Arvo's Kal raced wide on the home turn and in the home straight.
Arvo's Kal was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Handler, Mr. G. Arvanitis declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Arvanitis, the handler of the greyhound Arvo's Kal. Stewards deemed the performance of Arvo's Kal unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Arvo's Kal must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Barney Boloney was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left front sesamoid. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
