Lumumba and She's Exciting were slow to begin. Radley's Reality and Dr. Gomez collided approaching the first turn severely checking Chantilly Magic, Dr. Cinnamon and She's Exciting. Find Out Friday and Dr. Gomez collided on the first turn checking Dr. Gomez. Lumumba checked off Dr. Gomez approaching the home turn. She's Exciting raced wide in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Toner, the trainer of Denzel regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Denzel last raced on 21st July 2015. Mr. Toner stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after suffering a back muscle injury. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Denzel trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 1, weight 35.7kgs. The greyhound was placed 3rd, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.92. The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 7 lengths. Denzel was cleared.
