Daintree Ripa was a late scratching at 2:27pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr. K. Joske was fined the sum of $100.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Evans, the trainer of Peninsula Lady regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Peninsula Lady last raced on 14 November 2016 and is returning after a spell.

Nanny's Poppy was quick to begin.  Starlit Dragon and Goomac Keats were slow to begin.  Meeniyan Hawk and Peninsula Lady collided on the first turn.  Peninsula Lady was checked off Nanny's Poppy entering the back straight checking Galloping Benny and Babs Streishound.  Goomac Keats, Peninsula Lady and Galloping Benny collided entering the back straight checking Peninsula Lady and Galloping Benny and severely checking Babs Streishound. Galloping Benny and Babs Streishound raced wide in the back straight.  Nanny's Poppy was checked off Starlit Dragon on the second turn and stumbled.  Peninsula Lady was checked off Nanny's Poppy on the home turn and collided with Galloping Benny.

Gone Early was quick to begin.  Feeling Lucky and Tyrone Kahn were slow to begin.  Corroboree and Smiley Bynes collided soon after the start.  Feeling Lucky and Tyrone Kahn collided approaching the first turn checking Feeling Lucky.  Classy Gun was checked off Smiley Bynes approaching the first turn.  Surfin' Caity and Smiley Bynes collided on the first turn checking Surfin' Caity.  Corroboree clipped the heels of Surfin' Caity on the first turn checking Classy Gun, Eye Spy Emma and Tyrone Kahn and severley checking Corroboree and Surfin' Caity.  Feeling Lucky faltered on the first turn.  Surfin' Caity and Corroboree collided entering the home straight checking Surfin' Caity.

Steinbeck Knew and Rozehill Beth were quick to begin.  Kiyoshi and Shackleton were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Snowy Hunt and Azza collided on the first turn.  Azza was checked off Dulcet Sound entering the back straight.  Rozehill Beth faltered in the back straight and lost ground causing Dulcet Sound to gallop on Rozehill Beth severley checking Dulcet Sound.

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Trotman, the handler of Jarrad Keats regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound.  Stewards directed that Jarrad Keats be boxed first in future events.

Chick's Buzzard, Our Miss Deena and Hot Genetics were quick to begin.  Fallen Star and Bar The Bullet collided soon after the start.  Our Miss Deena, Cowrie and Hot Genetics collided on the first turn.  Fallen Star clipped the heels of Cowrie on the first turn severely checking Fallen Star, Bar The Bullet and Just Like Jim, Just Like Jim raced wide as a result.  Cowrie galloped on Our Miss Deena approaching the home turn severely checking both greyhounds. Bar The Bullet was checked off Cowrie approaching the home turn checking Just Like Jim.

A sample was taken from Chicks Buzzard - winner of the event.

Mr. J. Harrington, the trainer of Daintree King declared a new weight of 32.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Daintree King last raced at 31.0kg.

Daintree King and Rylies Jack were slow to begin.  Rylies Jack and One More Des collided soon after the start.  Rylies Jack, One More Des and Max Roxy collided approaching the first turn checking all three greyhounds.  In Like Flint and Mystic Powers collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.  In Like Flint, Rylies Jack and One More Des collided approaching the home turn.  In Like Flint and Max Roxy collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds.

One More Des was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a cut on the right hind pad, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Zafonic Express trialled over the 315 metres from box 1, weight 26.0kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 18.02 secs, the greyhound was beaten a margin of 6.75 lengths. Zafonic Express was Cleared.
