Steward's Report
Mr. M. Craig, representative of Meteor Panther declared a new weight of 32.4 kg's for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Meteor Panther last raced at 31.2 kg's.
Stewards spoke to Mr. F. Malloy, the trainer of Cosmic Object regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Cosmic Object last raced on 19th of October, 2015. Mr. Malloy stated that Cosmic Object is returning to racing after sustaining an injury to it's left hock.
Gypsy Wendy and Lucky Andy collided soon after the start. Magic Karma crossed to the inside soon after the start, checking Gypsy Wendy and Dr Tillyme. Dr Tillyme and Gypsy Wendy collided on the first turn. Dr Tillyme checked off Magic Karma on the first turn, checking Gypsy Wendy, Lucky Andy and Cosmic Object. Meteor Panther faltered on the first turn and tailed off as a result. Magic Karma and Spitfire Road collided approaching the home turn, checking Magic Karma, Spitfire Road, Dr Tillyme and Lucky Andy. Supreme Kayo eased approaching the home turn. Supreme Kayo, Gypsy Wendy and Spitfire Road collided on the home turn, checking all three greyhounds. Spitfire Road checked off Magic Karma in the home straight. Magic Karma and Lucky Andy collided approaching the winning post.
Meteor Panther was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right back muscle injury, a 30 day stand down period was imposed.
Supreme Kayo was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Handler, Ms L.Smith declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Ms L.Smith, the handler of the greyhound Supreme Kayo regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Supreme Kayo with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Smith pleaded guilty to the charge, Supreme Kayo was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
