Stewards spoke to Ms Y. Andrews the trainer of Hendo Blue prior to the race regarding number of recent runs and the greyhound being 0.8kg down in weight. Ms Andrews stated that she is happy with the greyhound and she believes the greyhound lost a considerable amount of weight while travelling to the track. Stewards ordered a thorough veterinarian examination and the greyhound was past fit to run.

Furious Barb was slow to begin. Taabing Flash and Lohan collided soon after the start.  Back Slapper and Hyundai Hawk collided soon after the start checking Hyundai Hawk.  Back Slapper, Taabinga Flash and Lohan collided approaching the first turn.  Hendo Blue, Back Slapper, Taabinga Flash and Lohan collided on the first turn checking Back Slapper, Taabinga Flash and Lohan.  Back Slapper and Taabinga Flash collided approaching the second turn.  Maleune eased on the home turn.

Hyundai Hawk was vetted and re-vetted following event 9.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mrs. M Thomas regarding the racing manners of Hyundai Hawk approaching the home turn. Mrs. Thomas stated she believed the greyhound was injured after being checked soon after the start. She also added that the greyhounds action and the flicking of its tail was indicative of a greyhound showing signs of injury. Stewards noted Mrs. Thomas's explanation and directed that a veterinary certificate of clearance be obtained before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Stewards spoke to Mrs P. Jones, the representative of the greyhound Maleune regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Maleune was vetted and re-vetted following the event 12.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the left monkey muscle, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Maleune with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mrs P. Jones pleaded not guilty to the charge, Maleune was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

On 25/01/16  the trainer of Hyundai Hawk Mrs. M. Thomas produced a veterinary certificate from Dr. Des Fegan dated 25/01/16 which stated that the greyhound had a sprained left stifle, posterior cruciate and swollen joints indicating bleeding and a probable tear of the posterior cruciate, Dr. Fegan stated a healing time of approximately 6 weeks is expected.  Stewards noted the injuries and advised Mrs. Thomas that once the greyhound had recovered from the injures a certificate of clearance to race is to be obtained from Dr. Fegan and lodged with GRV before any future nominations will be accepted.
