It Gets Better was quick to begin. Ultimate Billy checked off Indigo Bruna on the first turn and raced wide as a result.  Meeniyan Hawk and Bright Sky collided on the second turn.  Hurricane Craig and Indigo Bruna collided on the second turn and again approaching the home turn checking Indigo Bruna and severely checking Hurricane Craig. Meeniyan Hawk and Indigo Bruna collided approaching the home turn checking Indigo Bruna, Bright Sky and Ultimate Billy. Ultimate Billy and Bright Sky collided on the home turn.

Chase's Chance, Dr. Trojan and Taabinga Fella were slow to begin. Far Out Indian and Mum's Soul collided soon after the start checking Mum's Soul. Chase's Chance checked off Irish Mobster on the first turn and collided with Mum's Soul severely checking Chase's Chance, Mum's Soul and Dr. Trojan;  Chase's Chance stumbled as a result.  Irish Mobster and Far Out Indian collided on the first turn. 

Chase's Chance was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Steward spoke to Mrs J. McMahon the representative of Dr. Trojan regarding the amount of starts the greyhound has had for the month of January.  Mrs McMahon stated that the kennel use races as trials as the greyhound stresses out on trial days. Mrs. McMahon added that the greyhound is quiet clever and through trial and error the kennel believes that the greyhound stresses less and performs better when having to wait for his race on race night.  Dr. Trojan was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Conway regarding the improved performance of Galloping Delta.  Mr. Conway stated that the greyhound injured herself in her first start and it has taken some time to get her right again, Mr Conway added that he was very pleased with her last start placing at Sandown and expected a forward showing today.   Stewards noted Mr. Conway's explanation and directed that a sample be taken.

Seven Reasons was a late scratching at 5:39pm by order of Stewards.

Stewards spoke to Mr. T Whitford regarding the circumstance surrounding the late scratching of Seven Reasons. Mr. Whitford stated that he wasn't aware the the greyhound had gained a start today. Stewards charged Mr. Whitford with a breach of GAR31. Mr. Whitford pleaded guilty to the charged and was fined the sum of $200. 

Baroque Up and Hop On Black were slow to begin.  Zahra Bella was very slow to begin (4 lengths). Speed And Rocket and Spritely Geared collided approaching the first turn.  Spritely Geared and Darkest Beauty collided on the first turn checking Darkest Beauty and Hop On Black.  Speed And Rocket faltered and tailed off on the second turn.  Baroque Up and Darkest Beauty collided approaching the home turn.

Speed And Rocket was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right hock, and was humanely euthanised.

Stewards spoke to Ms D. White the handler regarding her difficulty in boxing the greyhound Zahra Bella.  Stewards directed that Zahra Bella be boxed first in future events.

Dr. Brownie was very slow to begin (6 lengths). Dr. Lucious and Go Little Pebble collided approaching the first turn checking Go little Pebble.  Let's Go Blacky and Love The Grub collided approaching the first turn.  Dr. Lucious, Aeroplane Mick and Roll 'Em Maggie collided on the first turn checking Go Little Pebble, Aeroplane Mick, Love The Grub and severely checking Let's Go Blacky.  Let's Go Blacky raced wide approaching the home turn.  Dr. Brownie and Aerolpane Mick collided several times on the home turn.  Go Little Pebble and Love The Grub collided on the home turn.

Beyond Manapa, Memphis Dream, Miss Kadia and Our Miss Nitro were slow to begin. Miss Kadia and Our Miss Nitro collided soon after the start.  Carly Jay, Beyond Manapa and Memphis Dream collided on the first turn severely checking Beyond Manapa and Carly Jay; Carly Jay tailed off as a result.  Ribacola and Miss Kadia collided on the first turn.  Ribacola checked off Miss Kadia entering the back straight.  Our Miss Nitro and Ribacola collided approaching the home turn. Three Day Shadow and Miss Kadia collided several times in the home straight and again approaching the winning post. 

Ribacola was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right monkey muscle and minor laceration to left hind foot, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Carly Jay was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness in the right wrist, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre race sample was taken from Daintree Puzzle.

Andy Jay was slow to begin. Ulla and Uncle Ant collided approaching the first turn.  Nifty Neveelk and Sweet About Lola collided on the first turn.  Nifty Neveelk checked off Daintree Puzzle on the first turn.  Ulla was held up for a run and checked off Daintree Puzzle on the fourth turn.  Ulla checked off Nifty Neveelk on the fifth turn.  Uncle Ant and Andy Jay collided on the fifth turn checking Uncle Ant.  Bailey Rose checked off Sweet About Lola in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Ms Y. Andrews the trainer of Hendo Blue prior to the race regarding number of recent runs and the greyhound being 0.8kg down in weight. Ms Andrews stated that she is happy with the greyhound and she believes the greyhound lost a considerable amount of weight while travelling to the track. Stewards ordered a thorough veterinarian examination and the greyhound was past fit to run.

Furious Barb was slow to begin. Taabing Flash and Lohan collided soon after the start.  Back Slapper and Hyundai Hawk collided soon after the start checking Hyundai Hawk.  Back Slapper, Taabinga Flash and Lohan collided approaching the first turn.  Hendo Blue, Back Slapper, Taabinga Flash and Lohan collided on the first turn checking Back Slapper, Taabinga Flash and Lohan.  Back Slapper and Taabinga Flash collided approaching the second turn.  Maleune eased on the home turn.

Hyundai Hawk was vetted and re-vetted following event 9.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mrs. M Thomas regarding the racing manners of Hyundai Hawk approaching the home turn. Mrs. Thomas stated she believed the greyhound was injured after being checked soon after the start. She also added that the greyhounds action and the flicking of its tail was indicative of a greyhound showing signs of injury. Stewards noted Mrs. Thomas's explanation and directed that a veterinary certificate of clearance be obtained before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Stewards spoke to Mrs P. Jones, the representative of the greyhound Maleune regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Maleune was vetted and re-vetted following the event 12.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the left monkey muscle, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Maleune with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mrs P. Jones pleaded not guilty to the charge, Maleune was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

On 25/01/16  the trainer of Hyundai Hawk Mrs. M. Thomas produced a veterinary certificate from Dr. Des Fegan dated 25/01/16 which stated that the greyhound had a sprained left stifle, posterior cruciate and swollen joints indicating bleeding and a probable tear of the posterior cruciate, Dr. Fegan stated a healing time of approximately 6 weeks is expected.  Stewards noted the injuries and advised Mrs. Thomas that once the greyhound had recovered from the injures a certificate of clearance to race is to be obtained from Dr. Fegan and lodged with GRV before any future nominations will be accepted.

Kiowa Jones was a late scratching at 5:27pm on Veterinary advice (GAR 37)(fleas). No stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Tiger Whelan and Akina Akeira collided soon after the start.  El Surrao and Akina Akeira collided approaching the first turn checking Akina Akeira.  Beyond Rapid and El Surrao collided on the first turn severely checking Beyond Rapid.  Akina Akeira contacted the running rail on the first turn.  Flywheel Alfie, Tiger Whelan and Charm Again collided approaching the home turn.  El Surrao and Bare Bones collided approaching the home turn.  El Surrao and Charm Again collided on the home turn. 

Beyond Rapid was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness in the deltoid muscle of the right foreleg, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Sweet Rhonda, Scarlet Black and Lakeview Miss were slow to begin. Disco Diamond and Gospel Lass collided approaching the first turn checking Gospel Lass and Bright Eyed Girl.  Disco Diamond and Sun Choice collided on the first turn checking Sun Choice.  Gospel Lass checked off Sun Choice and collided with Lakeview Miss on the second turn checking Lakeview Miss and Malady Aubrey.  Sweet Rhonda raced wide on the home turn.  Sun Choice and Lakeview Miss collided in the home straight.

Phil's In Luck was a late scratching at 5:03pm on Veterinary advice (GAR 37)(fleas). No stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance, before any future nomination will be accepted.
