Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Thomas, the trainer of Grand Hero regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Grand Hero last raced on 8th September 2016 and is returning to race from a right back muscle injury and a change of trainer. Mr. Thomas also declared a new weight of 34.1kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Grand Hero last raced at 32.6kgs.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Smith, the trainer of Panther Grit regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Panther Grit last raced on 21st September 2016 and is returning to race from a right back muscle injury.
A pre-race sample was taken from Road To Nhill.
Storm Of All, Boston You Essay, Panther Grit and Road To Nhill were slow to begin. Panther Grit crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Road To Nhill several times to the 250 metre mark; both greyhounds were severely checked as a result. Swift Knockout, Storm Of All and Boston You Essay collided at the 250 metre mark. Swift Knockout and Boston You Essay collided at the 150 metre mark and again at the 50 metre mark.
Panther Grit was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right back muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
