Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Mrs. Pressley.
Demonishem, It's All Over and Mrs. Pressley were slow to begin. Mrs. Pressley and Dr. Shanice collided soon after the start. It's All Over, Hooded Troyer and Mrs. Pressley collided soon after the start. Dr. Cypress and Fast Freddie collided soon after the start. It's All Over checked off Dr. Cypress approaching the 250 metre mark causing It's All Over to fall in turn checking Demonishem and Hooded Troyer as a result. It's All Over subsequently tailed off for the remainder of the event. Mrs. Pressley and Fast Freddie collided at the 250 metre mark. Mrs. Pressley checked off Fast Freddie at the 50 metre mark.
It's All Over was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to its left ulna region and an injury to its left monkey muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to track staff - Mr. Fraser Dell and Mr. Brendan Mulligan after the catching pen gate was closed prior to the tailed off greyhound, It's All Over, reached the catching pen. After speaking to both Messrs Dell and Mulligan, Stewards established that Mr. Dell closed the gate to capture the seven runners and then tried to stop It's All Over from hitting the fence, however, the latch on the gate did not close properly causing all greyhounds to escape. Given the circumstances of the situation and that It's All Over was a distanced last, Stewards accepted the explanation of Messrs. Dell and Mulligan.
