This meeting was deemed heat affected. At the close of kennelling the outside temperature was 30.8 and the kennel temperature 19.0

William Cabang was a late scratching at 6:31pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to elevated temperature. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Gotta Cheer Up was slow to begin.  Proven Brave was slow to begin and took no competitive part in the event.  Exit Strategy and Firey Lomar collided soon after the start.  Firey Lomar and Crackerjack Ken collided approaching the first turn checking Crackerjack Ken.  Gotta Cheer Up and Bellachino collided on the first turn.

Proven Brave was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.  Stewards spoke to Miss T. Pakusch, Trainer of Proven Brave. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1)  Stewards charged Proven Brave with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Miss Pakush pleaded guilty to the charge, Proven Brave was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted

Stewards spoke to Mr G.Robinson, the trainer of Good Wick regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Good Wick last raced on 21st November, 2016. Mr Robinson stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a left stopper injury. . Mr Robinson declared a new weight of 34.8 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Good Wick last raced at 33.1kg.

Stewards spoke to Mr R.Gray, the trainer of Memphis Victorem regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Memphis Victorem last raced on 4th September, 2016. Mr Gray stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a split webbing injury.

Arctic Blaze was very slow to begin (3.5 lengths).  On Billy's Wings, Good Wick, Meehan Blue and Memphis Victorem collided soon after the start checking Good Wick.  Another Spritely crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Meehan Blue, Memphis Victorem and Firey Chieftain.  On Billy's Wings galloped on the heels of Firey Chieftain approaching the first turn.  In It Together, On Billy's Wings, Firey Chieftain and Another Spritely collided on the first turn checking On Billy's Wings, severely checking In It Together and Fiery Chieftain.  Arctic Blaze and Memphis Victorem collided approaching the home turn.  Memphis Victorem galloped on the heels of Arctic Blaze on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr W.Gray, the trainer of Why Not Sue regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Why Not Sue last raced on 17th September, 2016. Mr Gray stated that the greyhound is returning to racing after a right hock injury and was seasonal.

Stewards spoke to Mr T.Auld, the handler of Ya Welcome regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Ya Welcome last raced on 18th October. Mr Auld stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a left muscle injury. 

Chief Mingo was quick to begin. Zahra Bella and Chief Mingo collided soon after the start checking Zahra Bella.  Ya Welcome and Tammy Baxter collided soon after the start.  Seriously Wicked checked off Major Bill approaching the first turn.  Chief Mingo, Ya Welcome and Tammy Baxter collided approaching the first turn checking Ya Welcome and Tammy Baxter.  Ya Welcome, Tammy Baxter and Cosmic Spur collided on the first turn checking Cosmic Spur, severely checking Tammy Baxter.  Chief Mingo checked off Zahra Bella in the home straight.  Zahra Bella and Major Bill collided approaching the winning post.

Tammy Baxter was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right hamstrings, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr P. Dapiran, Trainer of Desert Oasis regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Desert Oasis last raced on 21 July 2016.  Mr Dapiran stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a dew claw injury.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Desert Oasis trialled over the 390m from box 3, weight 28.6kg, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.27, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 5 lengths. Desert Oasis was Cleared.
