Steward's Report
Pursuant to GAR 104 (7) steward Mr. G. Truett did not act in any official capacity for this event.
A pre-race sample was taken from Minnesota Nice.
Absolute Silence, Flying Merkel, Lektra Hombre and Minnesota Nice were slow to begin. Absolute Silence and Flying Merkel collided soon after the start, checking Absolute Silence. Flying Merkerl galloped on Skyfire approaching the first turn. Skyfire and Absolute Silence collided on the first turn, severely checking Skyfire, Absolute Silence, Lektra Hombre and Minnesota Nice. Flying Merkel and Vanger Bale collided approaching the home turn, checking Vanger Bale and Minnesota Nice. Flying Merkel marred Zelemar Storm in the home straight.
Skyfire was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left toe, a five day stand down period was imposed.
Absolute Silence was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Flying Merkel was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right hind metatarsal, a fourteen day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Mccullagh, the trainer of the greyhound Flying Merkel regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Flying Merkel with marring. Mr. Mccullagh pleaded guilty to the charge, Flying Merkel was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
