Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Onya Elsa.
Meteor Thunder was quick to begin. Lektra Oscar was slow to begin. Onya Elsa and Seabrook Gem collided approaching the first turn. Quick Return checked off Red Tone on the first turn. Seabrook Gem and Onya Elsa collided on the first turn checking Seabrook Gem, Onya Elsa, Dyna Xanadu and Lektra Oscar. Quick Return marred the running of Red Tone in the home straight checking Red Tone.
Stewards noted that the muzzle of Lektra Oscar became dislodged during the running of the event.
A sample was taken from Meteor Thunder- winner of the event.
Quick Return was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Azzopardi, the trainer of the greyhound Quick Return regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Quick Return with marring. Mr. Azzopardi pleaded guilty to the charge. Quick Return was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
