Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Riley, the representative of Carry On Quinney regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Carry On Quinney last raced on 11th of August, 2016.  Mr. Riley stated that Carry On Quinney is returning to racing from a spell.

Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Riley, the representative of It's A Movin' regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  It's A Movin' last raced on 12th of August, 2016.  Mr. Riley stated that It's A Movin' is returning to racing from a spell.

Mr. P. Riley also declared a new weight of 31.9 kgs for the greyhound It's A Movin' in accordance with GAR 39(2).  It's A Movin' last raced at 33.2 kgs.

Slipaway Simba and Pomp Fiction were quick to begin.  Dark Obesession went up with the lids at box rise and was very slow to begin (2 lengths).  Brazen Bomber, It's A Movin', Slipaway Simba, Cashin' In, Shirdon Connorae and True Value collided approaching the first turn checking Cashin' In, Shirdon Connorae and Slipaway Simba and severely checking It's A Movin'.  Cashin' In checked off Shirdon Connorae on the first turn.  It's A Movin' checked off Slipaway Simba approaching the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Formosa, the representative of Gunmetal Rebel regarding the greyhound performing above market expectations in today's event. Mr. Formosa stated that Gunmetal Rebel had suffered interference in it's previous few starts and in his opinion the greyhound was aided by a clear run today. Stewards noted his explanation.

Meteor Thunder was quick to begin.  Lektra Oscar was slow to begin.  Onya Elsa and Seabrook Gem collided approaching the first turn.  Quick Return checked off Red Tone on the first turn.  Seabrook Gem and Onya Elsa collided on the first turn checking Seabrook Gem, Onya Elsa, Dyna Xanadu and Lektra Oscar. Quick Return marred the running of Red Tone in the home straight checking Red Tone.

Stewards noted that the muzzle of Lektra Oscar became dislodged during the running of the event.

A sample was taken from Meteor Thunder- winner of the event. 

Quick Return was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Azzopardi, the trainer of the greyhound Quick Return regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Quick Return with marring.  Mr. Azzopardi pleaded guilty to the charge.  Quick Return was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Satisfactory Trial Results

Destini Colorado trialled over the 390 metre distance from box 1, weight 34.0kgs.  The greyhound was placed 2nd, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.86.  The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 2.25 lengths.  Destini Colorado was not cleared.

Destini Ricardo trialled over the 450 metre distance from box 8, weight 33.3kgs.  The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 25.76.  The greyhound won by a margin of 12.25 lengths.  Destini Ricardo was cleared.
