Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr S. Waycott, trainer of the greyhound Idle Rocket which had not raced since 14 July 2016. Mr Waycott stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after recovering from a back muscle injury.
A pre race sample was taken from Supervisor.
Brazen Fool, Tom's Gift and Supervisor were slow to begin. Tom's Gift and Supervisor collided soon after the start. Vanderville and Fipa Middleton collided approaching the first turn. Tom's Gift and Supervisor collided approaching the first turn. Brazen Fool and Fipa Middleton collided on the first turn, checking Fipa Middleton. Fipa Middleton, Tom's Gift, Brazen Fool, Over The Radar, Supervisor and Bejay's Lass collided approaching the home turn, checking Beejay's Lass. Vanderville and Idle Rocket collided on the home turn. Over The Radar and Fipa Middleton collided on the home turn. Vanderville, Idle Rocket and Brazen Fool collided entering the home straight. Vanderville eased entering the home straight and collided with Idle Rocket. Vanderville and Idle Rocket collided several times in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr M.Ellis, the trainer of the greyhound Vanderville regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the home straight. Vanderville was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left monkey and right deltoid, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Vanderville with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Ellis pleaded guilty to the charge, Vanderville was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Meeting Comments:
Satisfactory Trial Results - Crackerjack Pete trialled over the 425m from box 1, weight 33.6kg, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of four starters. The time of the trial was 24.55, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 9 lengths. Crackerjack Pete was not cleared.
