A pre-race sample was taken from Zelemar Zonk.
Aston Tara and Zelemar Zonk were quick to begin. Tweedle Dumb, Choclotto and Toshulan were slow to begin. Lulu Noir and Hundred collided soon after the start. Zelemar Zonk crossed to the rail approaching the first turn and collided with Aston Tara. Elswyk Max and Hundred collided approaching the first turn checking Elswyk Max. Elswyk Max and Tweedle Dumb collided approaching the home turn checking Elswyk Max. Tweedle Dumb was checked off Choclotto entering the home straight.
