A pre-race sample was taken from Sisco Lilly upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.

Stewards spoke to Ms. A. Langton, the trainer of Dream Of Fame regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Dream Of Fame last raced on 26th July, 2016. Ms. Langton stated that the greyhound was resuming racing after a torn right back muscle.
Expecto Patronum and Steel The Best were quick to begin. Snakebite Bale and Alpha Lucky collided soon after the start, checking both greyhounds. Zamperini checked off Sisco Gillie on the first turn and collided with Alpha Lucky, causing Zamperini to lose considerable ground as a result. Dream Of Fame and Snakebite Bale collided on the first turn. Dream Of Fame and Jayco Bale collided approaching the home turn. Expecto Patronum raced wide entering the home straight.
