Podium Express was a late scratching at 12:35pm due to injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Jamba Lad a post race sample was subsequently taken.

Kraken Dora was slow to begin. Dessy Fozz and Kraken Jay Jay collided soon after the start, checking Dessy Fozz. Forever Rose checked off Jamba Lad soon after the start. Skipalong Kelly and Black Star Alert collided on the first turn, checking Skipalong Kelly. Dessy Fozz, Skipalong Kelly and Forever Rose collided on the first turn. Black Star Alert and Jamba Lad collided in the back straight, checking Jamba Lad. Black Star Alert checked off Jamba Lad approaching the home turn. Skipalong Kelly and Black Star Alert collided several times approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Jamba Lad galloped on the heels of Kraken Jay Jay on the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Kraken Jay Jay and Jamba Lad collided on the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Kraken Dora and Black Star Alert collided on the home turn. Skipalong Kelly and Jamba Lad collided approaching the winning post.

Kraken Jay Jay was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained left groin muscle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr D.Burkett, the trainer of the greyhound Kraken Jay Jay. Stewards spoke to Mr Burkett in regards to the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Mr Burkett stated that he was of the opinion that Jamba Lad had galloped on the heels of Kraken Jay Jay on the home turn which resulted in the greyhound being checked and colliding with Jamba Lad. Acting on their own observations and viewing the official replays, Stewards noted the comments of Mr Burkett and took no further action.
