Proven Latte, Sam Toocan, Night Phantom and Vague Intention were slow to begin. Charlie Pearce and Inter Carmella collided on the first turn, checking Inter Carmella and Papillon. Sam Toocan and Gold Anthem collided approaching the second turn, checking Gold Anthem and causing Sam Toocan raced wide. Proven Latte and Gold Anthem collided in the back straight, checking Gold Anthem. Proven Latte, Sam Toocan and Vague Intention collided on the third turn, checking Vague Intention and severely checking Proven Latte and Gold Anthem.
