Kaitoke Diamond was quick to begin. Cee Cee Quoted and Kraken Flash were slow to begin. Optimus Bart and Feel The Wrath collided approaching the first turn. Time Dimension and Dashing Dave collided approaching the first turn. Cee Cee Quoted checked off Feel The Wrath in the front straight. Kaitoke Diamond checked off Feel The Wrath approaching the second turn. Optimus Bart and Feel The Wrath collided several times on the second turn. Optimus Bart marred the running of Feel The Wrath approaching the third turn, checking Kaitoke Diamond, Time Diamond, Cee Cee Quoted and Dashing Dave, and severely checking Feel The Wrath, which stumbled and lost considerable ground.

Stewards spoke to Mr. A. Debattista, the trainer of the greyhound Optimus Bart regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the third turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Optimus Bart with marring. Mr. Debattista pleaded guilty to the charge, Optimus Bart was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
