Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Ferguson, the handler of Dunder regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Dunder last raced on 5th May 2016. Mr. Ferguson stated that the greyhound was returning to race after a spell.
A pre-race sample was taken from Rahni.
Downing Street was slow to begin. Restless Dream and Downing Street collided soon after the start checking Downing Street. Restless Dream checked off Rahni approaching the first turn checking Downing Street, Dunder and Pitch and severely checking Restless Dream. Rahni eased on the home turn. Restless Dream raced wide on the home turn and in the home straight. Evelyn and Fan The Top collided in the home straight. Dunder and Tiger Bobby collided in the home straight checking Tiger Bobby. Fan The Top and Tiger Bobby collided in the home straight checking Fan The Top. Fan The Top and Downing Street collided approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Howell regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Tiger Bobby. Stewards directed that Tiger Bobby be boxed first in future events.
Restless Dream was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right triangle muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Ms. M. Clay, the trainer of the greyhound Rahni regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Rahni was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hind metatarsal fracture. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Rahni with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Clay pleaded guilty to the charge. Rahni was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
