Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Pulis, the trainer of Back Slapper regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Back Slapper last raced on 8 May 2016 and is returning from an infected grass seed.
Paua To Kapau was quick to begin. Dr. Poppel was slow to begin. Willowvale Brezz and Ballymac Gunnar collided soon after the start. Back Slapper and Hyundai Hawk collided soon after the start. Back Slapper was checked off Hyundai Hawk approaching the first turn. Paua To Kapau and Sir Richard collided on the first turn. Willowvale Brezz, Ballymac Gunnar and Back Slapper collided on the first turn checking Back Slapper and Dr. Poppel. Ballymac Gunnar and Dr. Poppel collided in the back straight. Hyundi Hawk was checked off Sir Richard on the third turn. Ballymac Gunnar was checked off Dr. Poppel on the third turn checking Back Slapper. Ballymac Gunnar eased and raced wide on the home turn and collided with Back Slapper. Paua To Kapau and Sir Richard collided in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. McPhie the representative of the greyhound Ballymac Gunnar regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Ballymac Gunnar was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained minor abrasions to the right hock and right front foot, no stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) Stewards charged Ballymac Gunnar with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Mr. McPhie pleaded guilty to the charge, Ballymac Gunnar was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
