Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Pulis, the trainer of Back Slapper regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Back Slapper last raced on 8 May 2016 and is returning from an infected grass seed.

Paua To Kapau was quick to begin.  Dr. Poppel was slow to begin.  Willowvale Brezz and Ballymac Gunnar collided soon after the start.  Back Slapper and Hyundai Hawk collided soon after the start.  Back Slapper was checked off Hyundai Hawk approaching the first turn.  Paua To Kapau and Sir Richard collided on the first turn.  Willowvale Brezz, Ballymac Gunnar and Back Slapper collided on the first turn checking Back Slapper and Dr. Poppel.  Ballymac Gunnar and Dr. Poppel collided in the back straight.  Hyundi Hawk was checked off Sir Richard on the third turn.  Ballymac Gunnar was checked off Dr. Poppel on the third turn checking Back Slapper.  Ballymac Gunnar eased and raced wide on the home turn and collided with Back Slapper.  Paua To Kapau and Sir Richard collided in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr. B. McPhie the representative of the greyhound Ballymac Gunnar regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn.  Ballymac Gunnar was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained minor abrasions to the right hock and right front foot, no stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) Stewards charged Ballymac Gunnar with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury.  Mr. McPhie pleaded guilty to the charge, Ballymac Gunnar was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Apollo's Twin and Charm Again were quick to begin.  Ulla was slow to begin.  Wot Price Flash and Brother Leo collided soon after the start.  Charm Again, Wot Price Flash and Brother Leo collided on the first turn.  Tuggeragh and Simply Elite collided on the first turn checking Tuggeragh, Charm Again, Wot Price Flash and Brother Leo and severley checking Simply Elite.  Shine crossed to the rail on the first turn.  Ulla and Wot Price Flash collided approaching the second turn.

Say Nothing was quick to begin.  Black Train, It's Debatable and Russ Will Crowe collided on the first turn checking It's Debatable.  Summer Kate was checked off It's Debatable on the first turn.  Black Train, Russ Will Crowe and Born Molly collided entering the back straight.  Russ Will Crowe was checked off Born Molly in the back straight and again on the second turn.  Born Molly clipped the heels of Black Train on the second turn.

Izumi was quick to begin.  Tinny Time and Schmoo collided soon after the start.  Sun Choice was checked off Aston Regas approaching the first turn.  Tinny Time was checked off Schmoo on the first turn.  Eli's Jet crossed to the rail on the first turn and collided with Bob's Gift and Samsara Lass, Eli's Jet stumbled as a result.  Aston Regas was checked off Izumi on the home turn.

Ms. D. White, trainer of Swift Jewel declared a new weight of 27.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Swift Jewel last raced at 25.5kg.
