Steward's Report
Nick was a late scratching at 9:44pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to illness. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Southwood Jet, Gotcha Money, Nathan Baxter and Duporth Avenue collided soon after the start, checking Southwood Jet, Gotcha Money and Nathan Baxter. Dan The Man and Sporto Brian collided approaching the first turn. Duporth Avenue galloped on the heels of Sporto Brian on the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Southwood Jet and Gotcha Money collided on the first turn, checking Gotcha Money, which brushed the running rail. Sporto Brian and Duporth Avenue collided approaching the home turn, checking Sporto Brian. Dan The Man eased in the home straight and collided with Allen Gable.
Dan The Man was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Wright, the trainer of the greyhound Dan The Man regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Dan The Man with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Wright pleaded guilty to the charge, Dan The Man was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
