Zelemar Doll was quick to begin. Dot Com Diesel was slow to begin. Elbow Room checked off Zelemar Doll approaching the first turn. Soda Lad checked off Zoltina's Legacy approaching the first turn. Golden checked off Zelemar Doll on the first turn checking Elbow Room. Dot Com Diesel checked off Dime approaching the home turn. Golden and Soda Lad collided on the home turn. Dime and Elbow Room collided on the home turn. Dime and Dot Com Diesel collided in the home straight and again approaching the winning post. Why Not Les marred the running of Zoltina's Legacy in the home straight severely checking both greyhounds.
Why Not Les was vetted following the event. It was reported that no apparent injury was found.
Zoltina's Legacy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained muscle soreness and grazes to left hock and leg, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr W Grey, the trainer of the greyhound Why Not Les regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Why Not Les with marring. Mr Grey pleaded guilty to the charge, Why Not Les was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
