Steward's Report
Sugar Lips and Starvin' Seagull were slow to begin. Master Phelps and Terrorizer collided soon after the start checking Master Phelps. Castle Black, Boston George and Kid Monopoly collided soon after the start checking Boston George and severely checking Castle Black. Castle Black checked off Kid Monopoly approaching the first turn checking Boston George. Castle Black severely checked off Boston George on the first turn. Starvn' Seagull eased on the first turn and lost considerable ground as a result. Master Phelps checked off Starvin' Seagull approaching the home turn and raced wide as a result. Boston George checked off Sugar Lips on the home turn. Master Phelps raced wide on the home turn and again in the home straight.
Master Phelps was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Gibbons, the trainer of the greyhound Starvin' Seagull regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Starvin' Seagull was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Starvin' Seagull with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Gibbons pleaded not guilty to the charge. Starvin' Seagull was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
