Nav's Boy and Monkey Banana were slow to begin. Highfield Ella and How Bizarre collided soon after the start. Nav's Boy, Highfield Ella, Devil's Mate and Honey Girl collided on the first turn checking Devil's Mate and Honey Girl and severely checking Highfield Ella and Monkey Banana. Highfield Ella and Monkey Banana collided on the home turn. Highfield Ella marred the running of Monkey Banana several times in the home straight severely checking both greyhounds; both greyhounds tailed off as a result. Cool Lois checked off To A Degree in the home straight.
Highfield Ella was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. N. Tait, the trainer of the greyhound Highfield Ella regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Highfield Ella with marring. Mr. Tait pleaded guilty to the charge. Highfield Ella was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Monkey Banana was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
