Lady Lurcher was quick to begin. Baby Blitzen, Toorak Road and Southwood Hazel collided approaching the first turn, checking Southwood Hazel and causing Toorak Road to fall. Baroness Jill and Destini Seahorse collided approaching the first turn, checking Baroness Jill. Destini Seahorse and Djarragun collided on the first turn, checking Destini Seahorse. Mausie checked off Baby Blitzen on the first turn. Baroness Jill raced wide on the home turn. Baby Blitzen and Djarragun collided approaching the winning post.
Toorak Road was vetted and after being re-vetted following event 8, it was reported that the greyhound sustained a right shoulder and saddle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
