Steward's Report
Mantra Kate was quick to begin. Miss Siyan, It's Magic Time and Super Duper Gal were slow to begin. Spring As Sprung crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Waikiki Creek and severely checking Miss Siyan. Waikiki Creek and It's Magic Time collided on the first turn, severely checking Waikiki Creek which contacted the running rail. Digger Do and Mantra Kate collided on the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Mantra Kate and Spring As Sprung collided entering the home straight. Waikiki Creek and It's Magic Time collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight, checking Waikiki Creek.
Waikiki Creek was vetted and revetted following event 8, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
A sample was taken from Bless 'Em All - winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr B.Fothergill, the trainer of Waikiki Creek regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing. Stewards charged Mr Fothergill with a breach of GAR 46(2) in that he failed to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound Waikiki Creek. Stewards issued a severe reprimand to Mr Fothergill. In determining this decision stewards took into consideration that the clock in the restaurant area which Mr. Fothergill was monitoring was showing the incorrect time.
