Knightrider crossed to the rail approaching the first turn causing Santana, Epping Champ, Mates Blue, White With One and Jack Of Meade to collide.  Santana and Epping Champ collided several times approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Mates Blue, Jack Of Meade and Ripple Eff Ex collided on the first turn checking White With One and causing Ripple Eff Ex to fall; Santana and Wicker Waker were severely checked as a result.  Santana and Epping Champ collided on the first turn checking Santana.

Ripple Eff Ex was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left wrist and abrasions to its left front leg.  A14 day stand down period was imposed.

Why Not Lyn was a late scratching at 11:12am by Order of Stewards.  

Stewards opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the late scratching of the Why Not Lyn. After questioning the Trainer of the greyhound, Mrs. P. Burns, Stewards found her in breach of GAR 31(1) in that she failed to present the correct greyhound for its engagement by the appointed kenneling time. Mrs. Burns pleaded guilty to the charged and was fined the sum of $250.

Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Cunningham, the trainer of Grand Hero regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Grand Hero last raced on 7th March 2016 (quali) and is returning to race after having its tonsils removed and a viral infection.

Tankasaurus, Mai Linh Febey and Grand Hero collided soon after the start checking Mai Linh Febey and Grand Hero.  Captain Crunch crossed to the inside soon after the start checking Magic Rusty and Auburn Girl.  Mai Linh Febey and Grand Hero collided approaching the first turn severely checking Mai Linh Febey which stumbled as a result.  Tankasaurus checked off Captain Crunch on the first turn severely checking Tankasaurus and Auburn Girl; Tankasaurus and Auburn Girl raced wide as a result.  Dee Tee Vane and Magic Rusty collided on the home turn.

Grand Hero was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to its right hind leg (behind the stifle).  A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Mr. J. Sultana, trainer of Lektra Burst declared a new weight of 34.9kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Lektra Burst last raced at 33.3kgs.

Early Violet was quick to begin.  Why Not Roy, Henry's Fault and Spy Miss collided soon after the start checking Why Not Roy which stumbled as a result. Henry's Fault and Spy Miss collided approaching the first turn.  Vicki Morris crossed to the rail on the first turn checking Early Violet, Kev's Choice, Henry's Fault and Spy Miss and severely checking Mr. Chance.  Early Violet and Kev's Choice collided entering the home straight checking Henry's Fault.

Stewards spoke to Mr G. Hall, the representative of Rorter regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Rorter last raced on 8th January 2016. Mr. Hall stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after having its tonsils removed and a right back muscle injury.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Rorter trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 1, weight 35.0kgs.  The greyhound was placed 2nd, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.95.  The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.5 lengths.  Rorter was cleared.

Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Craig, the representative of Grace Monica regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Grace Monica last raced on 6th December 2015.  Mr. Craig stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season, a hock injury and a change of kennel.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Grace Monica trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 3, weight 28.6kgs.  The greyhound was placed 3rd, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.95.  The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 6.75 lengths.  Grace Monica was cleared.

Denouement trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 5, weight 32.7kgs.  The greyhound was placed 4th, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.95. The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 17.5 lengths.  Denouement was cleared.

El Surrao trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 7, weight 29.5kgs.  The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.95. The greyhound won by a margin of 4.5 lengths.  El Surrao was cleared.

Briganti, the trainer of Angie Rocks regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Angie Rocks last raced on 1st October 2015.  Mr. Briganti stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season and a wrist injury.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Angie Rocks trialled over the 460 metre distance from box 5, weight 29.0kgs.  The greyhound was placed 4th, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 26.00.  The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 5 lengths.  Angie Rocks was cleared.
