Johnny Bullet was quick to begin. Wadelock Willow, Far Out Indian and Taabinga Fella were slow to begin. Johnny Bullet crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Anjing Betina and Wadelock Willow. Anjing Betina and Taabinga Fella collided on the first turn. Johnny Bullet was checked off Paua Hiking approaching the second turn. Johnny Bullet marred Paua Hiking on the home turn checking Paua Hiking and Taabinga Fella. Johnny Bullet and Paua Hiking collided approaching the winning post.
In The Trolley was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. S. Neocleous the trainer of the greyhound Johnny Bullet regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Johnny Bullet with marring. Mrs. Neocleous pleaded guilty to the charge, Johnny Bullet was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pusuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
