Mr. M. Fothergill, trainer of Spur Tron declared a new weight of 33.4kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Spur Tron last raced at 32.2kg.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Fothergill, the trainer of Spur Tron regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Spur Tron last raced on 16/12/15. Mr. Fothergill stated that the greyhound was returning from a right calf muscle injury.
Ayden Jackson, Merlot Magic and Iron Side were slow to begin. Iron Side checked off Blazing Nitro soon after the start. Moonlight Cruise checked off Benkei soon after the start. Merlot Magic galloped on the heels of Benkei approaching the first turn checking Blazing Nitro and Merlot Magic. Iron Side and Benkei collided approaching the home turn. Merlot Magic checked off Ayden Jackson on the home turn. Benkei checked off Iron Side on the home turn. Benkei and Moonlight Cruise collided approaching the winning post.
