Steward's Report
Due to the late arrival of Top Cat Broadcasting, caused by a mechanical breakdown en route to course, this event was re-scheduled to 6.40pm, originally scheduled for 5.30pm.
Pre-race urine samples were taken from Husky Bailey and Thanks James.
Thanks James and Thermal Spark were quick to begin. Husky Bailey and Moraine Spike were quick slow to begin.
Solar Ebony, racing manners approaching winning post, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist sprain. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr V Millington regarding the racing manners of Solar Ebony approaching the winning post. After hearing submissions from Mr V Millington, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
Thanks James underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left and right gracilis muscles. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr D Reardon regarding Thanks Jame’s racing manners approaching and in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Thanks James was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr D Reardon pleaded guilty to the charge. Thanks James must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
It was noted that the muzzle of Thanks James became partially dislodged during the running of the event.
