Steward's Report
Ripping It Up and Whatever Junior were quick to begin. Dark Before Dawn was slow to begin.
Whatever Junior underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr. Adam Helleren regarding Whatever Junior’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Whatever Junior was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Helleren pleaded guilty to the charge. Whatever Junior was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Bendigo and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards also issued a warning against the greyhound for pulling up prior to the return gate and failing to enter the catching pen.
Royal Sleeper underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Kayla Cottrell regarding the racing manners of Royal Sleeper soon after the start and on the turn out of the back straight. After hearing submissions from Ms. Cottrell, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
Dark Before Dawn (trainer's request) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
