Gazer Bale was quick to begin. Laurie's Chance and Speedy Carerro was slow to begin.
Laurie's Chance and Sir Tex collided soon after the start checking Laurie's Chance. Speedy Carerro and Black Velcro collided soon after the start. Akando checked off Gazer Bale approaching the first turn. Gazer Bale, Speedy Carerro and Black Velcro collided on the first turn checking Speedy Carerro which raced wide as a result. Laurie's Chance and Sir Tex collided approaching the second turn. Black Velcro, Gazer Bale and Akando collided approaching the second turn checking Gazer Bale, Black Velcro, Laurie's Chance and Sir Tex, severely checking Speedy Carerro which stumbled and lost considerable ground as a result. Jingellic and Akando collided serval times approaching the third turn checking Jingellic. Laurie's Chance checked off Black Velcro on the third turn.

Black Velcro was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a grazed left hind toe, no stand down period was imposed.
