Steward's Report
Something Wild and Slick Galore collided on the first turn. Slick Galore and Jemalong Dooby collided on the second turn. Arvo's Apollo checked off the heels of Jemalong Dooby on the fifth turn and again on the home turn.
Jabber Wocky was vetted following the Event and Dr. Michael Bell, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right hind sesamoid. Acting on a recommendation from Dr. Bell, the Stewards will stand Jabber Wocky down from competing for 7 days. Stewards spoke to Handler, Michael Giles (representing Trainer - Peter Giles), regarding the disappointing performance of Jabber Wocky this evening. Mr. Giles told Stewards that he was also disappointed with the greyhound's run and could offer no explanation other than to state that the greyhound does not appear to be suited to The Meadows track as he was drawn well tonight as he performs at his best when drawn wide. Stewards issued a warning regarding the racing performance of Jabber Wocky and directed that a swab sample be taken from Jabber Wocky, which finished in 7th position.
Stewards spoke to Trainer, Michelle Mallia-Magri, after it was reported that she had applied taping to Slick Galore in the parade area. Ms. Mallia-Magri was reminded her of her responsibilities to ensure that taping is applied prior to her greyhounds competing and in the confines of the kennel block.
