Stalking Douglas – Late scratching at 4:01pm (11/6/24) when Ms Cindy Fulford reported the greyhound to have a groin injury (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Percival upon arrival at the course. 

A sample was unable to be obtained from Got Flair upon arrival at the course, a pre-race sample was subsequently taken.

Percival and Rockin' Queenie were quick to begin.

A sample was taken from Bang On Blue upon arrival at the course. 

Leonardo Zeal and Ruby's Bingo were quick to begin.

Ruby's Bingo was severely checked on the first turn and subsequently tailed off underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Ruby's Bingo was found to have a left monkey muscle injury and a spike wound to the left hind toe. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Peter McKenzie regarding Ruby's Bingo's overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr. McKenzie to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Ruby's Bingo in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

A post-race sample was taken from Leonardo Zeal - the winner of the event. 

Dinosaur Deano and Little Whip were slow to begin.

Gracilis visibly eased, turned its head to the inside soon after the start and pulled up underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 7 – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr Matthew Tabb regarding Gracilis’ racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Gracilis was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Tabb pleaded guilty to the charge. Gracilis was suspended for 28 days  at Traralgon and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Whippy Flash upon arrival at the course. 

A pre–race sample was taken from Whippy Flash.

Make It Thunder, Uno Peanut and Jessica Pearson were quick to begin. Fire Feather was slow to begin. 

Gin Chaser and Paris Calling were quick to begin.

Hard On Me was quick to begin. Harry The Hood, Bourne Sarah and Veluza Bale were slow to begin. 

Selynya Blue and Better Banjo were quick to begin. Yaala Junior was slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from High End Cash - the winner of the event.

Here Comes Blue was quick to begin. Bankrupt, Derogative and Madalia Snoopy were slow to begin. 

A sample was taken from Crew upon arrival at the course. 

Stewards interviewed kennel representative Ms Jennifer Gill in relation to the bona fides of the withdrawal of Dr. Dylan from this race. Stewards noted these comments.

A pre-race sample was taken from Catch Some Rays.

Crew was quick to begin. Washington Blue was slow to begin.

Crew clipped the heels of Tahonta approaching the home turn and subsequently fell underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Dr. Marshall – New declared weight of 39.0kg, last raced at 37.8kg.

A pre–race sample was taken from Cortez Bale.

Cortez Bale and Bomber's Reward were slow to begin.

Tommy's Hitman contacted the running rail on the first turn underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist injury and bruising to the biceps and quads. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. 

Pursuant to GAR 75(6), starter Mr Geoffrey Dalton did not act in any official capacity that may have in any way affected the outcome of this event. 

Dr. Dot – New declared weight of 26.9kg, last raced at 25.8kg.

A pre–race sample was taken from Misses Easy.

Misses Easy contacted the running rail approaching the first turn and lost ground underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Catch The Outlaw and Joe Gem were quick to begin.

Just A Jester lost ground approaching the first turn underwent post-race veterinary examination and was found to have abrasions to the left hock. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Aaron Farley regarding Just A Jester's overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr. Farley to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Just A Jester in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

Supplementary Report 14/6/2024: Mr Aaron Farley, notified Stewards in accordance with GAR 122 that Just A Jester has pulled up sore in the right hip.

Meeting Comments

Mr Geoffrey Howell was reminded of his responsibilities to ensure all greyhounds are kennelled by the appointed kennelling time, pursuant to LR 39.1.
