Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 29.8 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.5 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.
A sample was taken from Pirate's Brew upon arrival at the course.
Tamoro Bale, Cloudy Wren, Sharon's Lass and Crash Zambora were quick to begin. Pirate's Brew and Fox And Friends were slow to begin.
Crash Zambora (checked and lost ground turning off the back straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist sprain. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Pirate's Brew (turned head inwards entering home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 5. Pirate's Brew was found to have a right triceps injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Reginald Marriner regarding Pirate's Brew’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Pirate's Brew was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Marriner pleaded guilty to the charge. Pirate's Brew must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
