Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Move The Target.
Move The Target and Cigar Sam were quick to begin, Shrek's Fantasy was slow to begin. Hold On Nitro, Brenda Brae and Malted collided soon after the start. Brenda Brae and Malted collided approaching the first turn. Move The Target, Cigar Sam and Sanzman collided on the first turn, checking Sanzman and severely checking Cigar Sam. Hold On Nitro checked off Cigar Sam on the first turn. Malted, Brenda Brae and Frisky Colour collided on the first turn, checking all three greyhounds. Brenda Brae and Frisky Colour collided on the first turn, checking Frisky Colour which contacted the running rail, eased and subsequently pulled up. Malted checked off Cigar Sam entering the back straight.
Shrek's Fantasy was vetted and re-vetted following event 4. It was reported that there was no apparent inhury found. Stewards spoke to Mr. Jacob Lesjak, the handler of the greyhound Shrek's Fantasy. Stewards deemed the performance of Shrek's Fantasy unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Shrek's Fantasy must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Frisky Colour was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right triangle injury; a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Frisky Colour with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. J. Reynolds pleaded guilty to the charge, Frisky Colour was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Cigar Sam was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards issued a warning to Mr. M. Briganti, the trainer of Cigar Sam regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post.
