Steward's Report
Marionvale Tiger was slow to begin.
Smoldering Decay (incident in the catching pen), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left achilles tendon. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Mepunga Sunset (collided with Smoldering Decay in the concluding stages), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wounds to the left hind foot. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Representative Mr R.Rudd regarding the racing manners of Mepunga Sunset in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr Rudd, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
Handler Mr David Wightman was issued with a warning pursuant to GAR 156(f)(ii) for negligence, in that the incorrect race rug was placed on Nanna's Blue Boy at scanning.
A post–race sample was taken from Big Suzie – the winner of the event.
