Little Pig and First Crack were slow to begin.
Hotspot Hero, Who's Nanna Pat, Mathoura Marvel, Little Peg, Forbes Surprise and Usain Road raced wide in the home straight.
Mathoura Marvel underwent a post–race veterinary examination–no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Jack Clarke regarding Mathoura Marvel’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Mathoura Marvel was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Clarke pleaded guilty to the charge. Mathoura Marvel was suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
