A pre–race sample was taken from Sweet Aces.
Squiggly King was quick to begin. Turbo George was slow to begin.
Turbo George fell on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a back muscle ijury, a pencil muscle injury and minor abrasions to the left radius. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Miss Blaze marred Squiggly King approaching the finishing line, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind spike wound injury. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Kennel Representative Ms Danielle Smith regarding Miss Blaze's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Miss Blaze as charged with marring. Ms Smith pleaded guilty to the charge. Miss Blaze was suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
