The start of this event was delayed by approximately one minute following the delay in race 6. The event was rescheduled to 12.43pm.
Golden Coast was quick to begin. Waterloo Boy was slow to begin.
Marcus Moloney faltered at the 300m mark and subsequently tailed off. Underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left back muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track around the 300m and deemed it satisfactory for racing.
