Steward's Report
Smokey Nacho was quick to begin. Take Whatever was slow to begin.
Phantom Cali (began to lose ground from the back straight onwards) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the right back muscle and left wrist. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Blue Khaki (marred Smokey Nacho in the home straight and fell after the winning post) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left back muscle, left hock, left biceps muscle and right wrist. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Gavin Clifton regarding Blue Khaki's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Blue Khaki was charged with marring. Mr. Clifton pleaded guilty to the charge. Blue Khaki was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Sandown Park and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Post-race blood and urine samples were taken from Whatever Jack - the winner of the event.
