Sheila Says and Celtic Gypsy were quick to begin. Elswyk Shadow was slow to begin.
Elswyk Shadow fell soon after the start underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hindleg minor abrasion plantar toes injury. A 0 day stand down period was imposed.
Tangerine Sands underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg spike wound injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Leslie Hughes regarding Tangerine Sands’s racing manners in the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Tangerine Sands was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Mr Hughes pled not guilty to the charge, Tangerine Sands was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
